The playground in Huntsville glimmers under the moon like a ruin that refuses to fade. Its swings creak though no hands hold them, its slide gleams as if polished by absence itself. People say children vanished here, that their laughter dissolved into silence somewhere in the late sixties. But silence, I have learned, is not empty. It is crowded. It bends.

The children are there still, bluish, translucent, their movements delicate as frost melting at dawn. And beside them drift the unborn, lives never begun yet somehow visible. They move together, as if one absence calls to another, and in their gathering the night itself distorts. They are the same, yet they are not.

Not ghosts, not truly. They are event horizons — edges of lives, curved thresholds. Stand too close and you feel it: time bending, memory bending, light itself bending. For a moment you glimpse what lies beyond — a boy becoming the man he should have been, a girl singing the song she never had the breath to sing. The best of their lives flickers just beyond reach, perfect and unbroken, and then it slips away again. They are the same, yet they are not.

The horizon is cruel that way. It shows you the fullness of what could have been and seals it from you forever. The unborn smile without pain, the vanished grow into futures that feel more real than the dirt beneath your feet. But you cannot cross. You can only watch, knowing their perfection will never touch this world.

The South carries such sadness like a second skin. We do not explain it, we do not banish it. We let it ache in us like the pull of the horizon, always there, always bending. They are the same, yet they are not.

On the Alien Queen’s planet, I saw them again, and there the sadness only deepened. They played beneath twin moons, radiant, whole, yet still out of reach. Their joy was not ours, their laughter not ours, and the distance between us stretched wider than stars. To see their perfection was to feel the loss more sharply. What had been denied here was preserved there, but the preservation was exile. They are the same, yet they are not.

It is the way with horizons — beautiful, endless, merciless. They give a vision of what cannot be possessed. And so Huntsville’s playground remains, a threshold of sorrow, a place where the best of life flickers behind a curtain you cannot pass.

The swings move, the slide gleams, and silence fills with children who will never grow old, children who will always hover just beyond. And I, like anyone who dares to stand before them, am left with the knowledge that the horizon is both promise and punishment.

And so the refrain drifts again, soft as a sigh through the red dirt air:

The Queen brought me to her home planet, and the descent felt like a prayer. The world glowed violet and gold, breathing in its own light. The air was sweet with salt and honey, alive on my tongue. Forests shimmered, each leaf translucent, each leaf lit from within like a lantern. Rivers unspooled in silver ribbons, mirrors in motion. Glass flowers bent with the wind, their chimes almost music. Above, two suns drifted together, shadows braided across the ground — and still they remain.

In a meadow where the grass bowed low, she stopped. The silence thickened, then thinned, then broke open. Laughter rose — not laughter of now, but laughter unfinished, caught between presence and absence. Shapes appeared: children running without weight, singing without breath, staying without staying. They were joy and ache in a single breath — and still they remain.

“These are ours,” the Queen said, her voice steady though her eyes were fire. “The ones who left too soon. They belong to the wind, to the water, to us.” Around us the laughter circled, breaking against silence like surf — and still they remain.

One child turned toward me. Eyes wide as galaxies, deep as wells. For an instant I felt the grief of the world, sharp and unrelenting. Then the vision dissolved. My tongue was stone, my throat was sealed. But her hand found mine, warm and certain. “Life is fragile,” she whispered. “Because it must be. Because it always is. Even here, even now, beauty carries its shadow, and light carries its loss — and still they remain.”

We lingered as the suns lowered, their twin light spilling silver and gold across the meadow. The children faded into dusk, yet their echo lingered in the air. I felt them in the soil, in the wind, in the silence — and still they remain.

This was her world: beauty bound to sorrow, paradise carrying ghosts. The meadow would echo always, the children would return always, the grief would remain always. This was the vow of her planet: every beauty carrying its sorrow, every sorrow carrying its beauty — and still they remain.

You were not born to be someone’s battery. Not to be a soul rented out to jobs, to lovers, to friends, to systems that siphon your magic and offer breadcrumbs in return. That ends now.

From this moment forward, you don’t serve. You build. You don’t shape yourself to fit others’ hands. You become the hammer, and the world either molds around you or breaks in its arrogance.

This is not selfishness. This is sacred containment. It’s not retreat—it’s retaking the perimeter of your soul, fortifying the gates, sealing off the leaks. For years, perhaps lifetimes, you were taught that to be good meant to be available. That love meant saying yes. That sacrifice was virtue. But the truth is darker and sharper:

If you do not own your energy, someone else will. If you do not decide who you are, the world will cast you in its lowest roles. And so you stop. You reclaim.

Now, you become the generator. The godform in motion. No longer used. No longer bent. No longer available to the machinery of others’ mediocrity.

You weren’t born to carry the weight of their emptiness. You were born to become so whole that the Earth cracks under your step.

There is a moment in the desert, an endless stretch of heat and sand, where a man walks alone. He is wrapped in linen, moving against the wind, the weight of revelation pressing down on his shoulders. He does not question the voice he hears—it is God, it must be God. A thousand years from now, they will kill in his name. A thousand years from now, they will bow five times a day, press their foreheads to the earth, and call it submission. He will not see it, but it will happen.

History moves in whispers, in the slow-turning wheels of empires and the careful scripting of holy books. It is a fragile thing, belief, made real only by the sheer force of repetition. A thing spoken enough times, written in ink and carved into stone, takes on the illusion of permanence. And so it was with Islam.

It began with a man and a vision. And in that moment, it was real.

But history is not kind to those who freeze time.

The Weight of the Word

It is no small thing to build a world with words. It is no small thing to stand in the sands of the Arabian Peninsula, under an unforgiving sun, and speak of an unseen God. But where there is faith, there is always something else—power. And the line between the two is thin, the space between worship and control measured only by how tightly one holds the reins.

Islam, from its first breath, was never just a religion. It was law. It was politics. It was a nation before it was a scripture. And it was unyielding. The Prophet did not simply offer a path to God; he built a system that demanded obedience. There would be no negotiation. The words were final. The book was closed. And when the book is closed, the mind is too.

There is a flaw in this, a crack in the foundation. A book cannot evolve. A book does not learn. And yet, the world does. The world shifts beneath the weight of certainty, and when it does, those who cling to the past must either loosen their grip or be buried with it.

But Islam does not loosen.

The Hand of the Clock

There was a time, long before the minarets stretched into the sky, when the Muslim world burned bright with knowledge. In the libraries of Baghdad, scholars wrote of numbers and stars, of medicine and philosophy. They translated Aristotle, debated the structure of the cosmos, built the engines of modern science.

And then they stopped.

Or rather, they were stopped.

Somewhere along the line, the gates of reason were shut, locked with a key that fit neatly between the pages of holy text. The world had moved too fast, too far, and so the scholars were silenced. Innovation gave way to imitation. Discovery gave way to dogma. The light dimmed, and what remained was law, rigid and unchanging.

A system that cannot evolve is a system that will collapse.

It is a strange thing, to watch a great civilization retreat into its own shadow. And yet, here we are. The Quran remains. The hadith remains. The laws remain. But the mind does not move.

In the West, the church was broken long ago. The Enlightenment shattered the chains, tore apart the pulpits, replaced divine right with reason. The battle was fought, and though the scars remain, the ground was won. But Islam has not yet had its reformation. It stands now as it stood then—unyielding, absolute, unwilling to bend to the tide of history.

And what does not bend, breaks.

The Prophets and the Puppets

They say there will be no more prophets. Muhammad was the last. The final seal, the last word. But this is the greatest illusion of all—there is always another prophet. They rise in every age, whisper new truths, carve new paths. Some are real. Most are frauds.

To claim that no more will come is to claim that God has finished speaking. And if God has finished speaking, then the world is abandoned.

But the problem is not prophecy. The problem is power.

For when prophecy is used to build a throne, it is no longer prophecy.

To call Muhammad the final prophet is not a theological argument—it is a political one. It locks the door. It prevents challenge. It ensures control. If the gates are sealed, no new revelations can threaten the old ones. If the book is closed, no new voices can rewrite it. And so, the world of Islam remains frozen, its people chained to the past, its laws written in the ink of an empire that no longer exists.

The Last Man in the Desert

Imagine him again, the man in the sand. Alone, before the empire, before the armies, before the cities built in his name. He was not yet a legend. He was not yet a ruler. He was just a man. And in that moment, before the weight of history settled upon him, perhaps he still had doubt.

Perhaps he still wondered if the voice he heard was real.

Perhaps he still had the chance to be something else.

But history is not kind. And words, once spoken, cannot be unsaid.

Now, some folks will tell you it’s just wishful thinking, that we humans have a hard time letting go of our icons. But you have to admit, the whole thing has a certain poetic quality to it. A man that big, that mythical, just fading away in a bathroom in Graceland Seems a little too ordinary, doesn’t it

So the stories started He faked his death. Slipped away to some quiet corner of the world. Became a preacher in Arkansas, a rancher in Montana, a mystery man in Kalamazoo. There are whispers, blurry photos, voices on tapes that sound just a little too familiar

And maybe, just maybe, that’s the way it was meant to be Maybe a man like Elvis couldn’t die like the rest of us. Maybe he stepped offstage one last time, let the curtains close, and walked into legend before the world could watch him fade

Or maybe he’s still out there Somewhere a little quieter these days, but still humming a tune, still keeping the rhythm, still watching the world move to a beat he helped create

Because the thing about legends is They never really die. Not as long as someone, somewhere, is still listening to the music
