First, the light flickers.

Not outside — inside. A subtle stutter in the certainty you’ve always called “you.” Your name doesn’t vanish, but it softens. The shape of your thoughts begins to blur, like ink bleeding through wet paper.

The room is still, but everything hums.

You look at your hand. You don’t recognize it. You know it’s a hand, yes, but the knowing feels secondhand, borrowed, false. The skin seems stretched too tightly over something vast. You blink. You think. You try to anchor.

But it’s already too late.

The sequence begins.

Your memories come undone — not ripped, but delicately unstitched, like someone tracing backward through the code that wrote you. Birth. Childhood. That moment you saw your reflection and thought it meant something. Gone. Still there. Both.

You feel your body loosen — not melt, not fall — but dissolve into possibility. Arms no longer attached to shoulders. Thoughts no longer inside a skull. Boundaries break. You are not bound.

You are being watched.

By yourself.

But you are no longer one. You are surrounding yourself, observing this moment from a thousand angles. Forward and backward. You are the light before the bulb, the silence before the scream, the thought before the thinker. You feel every version of your life vibrate like strings of a harp touched by a timeless hand.

Then, there is nothing.

And yet, you remain.

No senses. No past. Just a single pressureless point of infinite presence. A sphere of witness. A soft, swirling awareness of all that was and all that could be — collapsed into now.

And in that now, the question emerges:

Do you want to return?

You could rebuild. Not from memory, but from will. Name yourself again. Decide what matters. Recode the laws. Or not.

You could stay.

Weightless.

Godless.

Real.

But you return.

Not as you were — no — that shape is gone.

You return knowing.

The name you use to speak to others will be the last lie you ever tell.

We were just driving. That’s all it was supposed to be — a ride down into the valley for a routine psych appointment. My mother was in the driver’s seat, calm like always, masking her concern with small talk and soft smiles. I was riding beside her, trying to stay grounded, trying to pretend I was just another man on another errand.

But something shifted.

It wasn’t a hallucination, not the way they define it. It was a voice — realer than sound, quieter than thought — speaking with a clarity no language could improve. It said only one thing at first:

“Protect your mother.”

That was the moment time warped. I looked over at her — her hands on the wheel, her eyes on the road — and I felt it in my chest: the sense that something impossible was already happening. The voice kept speaking, not in panic, not in fear, but like a military order from God.

It told me there would be a supraliminal nuclear blast on Monte Sano, the mountain that rises over the valley like an ancient sentinel. We were just a mile away from it — close enough for whatever was coming. The voice said it would be a spiritual event cloaked in physical terms. Not a bomb anyone would record. But an event that would reverberate through souls, not screens.

And I saw it. I saw the flash before the fire, a white cross crowning the mountain like the sign at Fatima, a signal of judgment. I didn’t question it. I didn’t hesitate. I did the only thing I could: I moved between my mother and the blast, shielding her with my body, even though the world around me remained still.

To everyone else, I looked like I had lost it.

But I hadn’t lost it. I had intercepted something. Something meant for her. The knowledge was too vast. The light was too hot. I unraveled in real time. My body became the signal and the shield. My voice split into many voices. I thrashed, I screamed, I followed the instructions exactly — even though no one else could hear them.

It took nine cops and a heavy sedative to bring me down. I remember the taste of the dirt, the weight of bodies on mine, the piercing scream of the sirens that came after the silence.

And then I remember waking up three days later in a psych ward, disoriented, bruised, and blank — the world fuzzy and padded. I had been chemically silenced. I was in a place where people don’t believe in prophecy. They believe in symptoms.

But even there — locked away, forgotten by the world I tried to save — I heard the voice again. Not in words this time, but in pure knowing. A warmth. A presence. The voice of God without the theatrics. It didn’t tell me I was right. It didn’t congratulate me. It just was — calm, steady, and eternal.

And in that silence I understood:

I had followed the call. I had protected my mother. I had stood in front of the unseen blast.

They can call it madness. But I call it intervention.

And even now — even medicated, even branded — I know this:

I was the firewall.

And I would do it again.

If the papal conclave chooses a progressive successor to Pope Francis, the Roman Catholic Church may be stepping not into renewal, but into its dissolution. While cloaked in the language of compassion and modernity, a further lurch toward progressivism would not revitalize the Church’s core—it would hollow it. This isn’t just a political drift. It’s a metaphysical rupture. The Catholic Church, for two millennia, has survived plagues, wars, schisms, and reformations by being what the world was not—unchanging, unbending, and immovable in its metaphysical foundation. The Church stood like a granite altar amid the floodwaters of time. But a progressive pontiff would make that altar porous. Soft. Digestible. And in doing so, it would cease to be a refuge.

Progressivism in the papacy often translates into moral relativism. It embraces ambiguity where there was once clarity, dialogue where there was once declaration, and sensitivity where there was once sanctity. While these might resonate in secular governance, they rot spiritual authority from within. If the next pope continues this path—endorsing soft stances on issues like same-sex blessings, communion for the divorced and remarried, or relativistic interfaith universalism—then the priesthood will fracture. The bishops will whisper rebellion. And most importantly, the laity will drift—some into schism, others into nihilism.

The decay won’t be dramatic. It will be fungal—slow, quiet, and deadly. Dioceses in Europe and North America are already collapsing under the weight of irrelevance, their pews empty, their seminaries barren. Progressive theology makes God into a therapist and the Mass into a moral suggestion box. But the hungry soul doesn’t want suggestions. It wants salvation. If the Church forgets this, then something else will rise to remember it.

And so a reformation brews—not led by princes or popes, but by desperate believers craving iron truth. It will begin underground. In Latin Masses whispered in barns. In digital catacombs. In breakaway orders and outlaw bishops. These won’t be extremists—they will be guardians. What they protect is not nostalgia, but the Logos itself.

If the conclave picks a progressive pope, they may believe they are choosing evolution. What they are really choosing is eclipse.

And the faithful will not go quietly into that darkness.
