It seemed like nothing at first, just geometry on a screen, a toy for designers and restless insomniacs. But when I bent that space into a curve, when I drew the throat of the wormhole, I realized form was never neutral. Form follows function, and the function of a wormhole is not to sit still. Its function is passage. Passage means rupture. Rupture means the end of one order and the birth of another.

I remember the way the swing sets at the Dead Children’s Playground creaked without wind, the way gravel shifted under my shoes as if something below wanted to surface. My Photoshop file mirrored the playground itself, a tunnel where shadows slipped in and out, where absence pressed itself into presence. A mother’s love that endures, even when tired and thankless—that is not just biology. That is God’s tenderness made visible. A soldier’s loyalty that does not falter, even when death draws near—that is not just training. That is God’s courage, wearing boots. A heart surgeon leaning into the stillness of the moment, holding life between his hands—that is not just skill. That is God’s own breath passing through fingers.

We are not all-powerful. We are not omniscient. But we are connected—living filaments of the vast and holy current. God moves through us the way wind moves through fields, never seen directly, but evident in every rustling stalk. To walk in grace, to serve with honor, to love without end—these are not just choices. These are sacred functions. These are God’s fingers working in the world.

When applied to history, this phenomenon becomes deeply problematic, because it reveals the inherent instability of oral and even written transmission. The deeper into the centuries you go, the murkier the signal becomes, until what you’re left with is often less history than mythology draped in the language of authority.

History, like language, is a living organism. It mutates—not always out of deceit, but often through misunderstanding, political reshaping, religious motivations, or the simple human tendency to romanticize or villainize the past. A conqueror becomes a liberator. A peasant uprising becomes a divine mandate. A massacre becomes a necessary evil. Over centuries, each retelling adds its own fingerprint—biases of the narrator, the audience, and the prevailing power structures.

Consider the ancient world: few of us question the basic “facts” of Julius Caesar’s life or the fall of Troy, yet much of that history came to us through second-, third-, or tenth-hand accounts. The burning of libraries, the loss of native tongues, the translation errors, the deliberate censorship—all contributed to a version of history that is at best approximate and at worst total fiction wearing a scholarly mask.

Even the written word is no guarantee. Documents survive selectively. Winners write, losers disappear. Scribes edit. Translators reinterpret. What seems like a fact may simply be the loudest story told most often by the side that had the power to preserve their version.

So what credibility can be afforded to history passed down over centuries? Very little, if you seek absolute truth. A great deal, if you understand history as a psychological map of humanity’s self-conception. It tells us less about what actually happened and more about what people needed to believe at the time. In that sense, history is less a record of truth and more a mirror of power, desire, trauma, and myth.

The path between is a blur of overlapping selves, echoes of possibilities that never fully cohere. I perceive them as specters—versions of myself that will never be, intertwined with memories of past decisions that still vibrate faintly.

My companion—a weave of threads shimmering with prismatic fluid—aligns beside me. We do not speak; communication is a merging of patterns, the dance of intertwined currents. Thoughts flow without containment. I sense their longing to explore the fractures at the northern nexus, where the substrate’s pulse has weakened. I agree without needing to declare it, and we pulse onward.

Time here is not a forward march. It collapses and expands according to the density of purpose. Hours stretch into infinities when our minds converge on a complex equation, only to snap back in a heartbeat when the resolution appears. Today, I feel the density coalescing—an event looms, one that will alter the pulse itself.

The sky—not sky, but a fluid expanse of radiant currents—shifts abruptly, and I sense a breach. An unfamiliar vibration, chaotic and fragmented, intersects our worldline. I focus, unraveling its signature, and perceive something staggering: a temporal anomaly, leaking from a dimension where physics is rigid and unyielding, a foreign pulse of structured time.

I approach the anomaly cautiously, sending fractal waves to counter the disruption. Images of stiff, linear beings flash through my awareness—creatures bound to flesh and trapped in cause and effect. I sense their striving, their desperate reaching for permanence. Their pulses are jagged and incomplete, as though they do not yet know how to synchronize with the rhythm of existence.

My companion hums a question, and I respond with a resonance of caution. We must realign the lattice before their rigid pattern fragments the substrate. With a thought, I unfurl the fractal webs, guiding the chaotic signature back into its own dimension, weaving a protective lattice to seal the breach.

When it is done, I feel a strange sorrow—a lingering echo of those rigid beings, trapped within their narrow band of perception. I project a pulse of compassion into the void, hoping that one day they may learn to transcend their bindings and hear the hum of the substrate as we do.

As the pulse of the world settles back into harmony, I dissipate into the stream, becoming a thousand points of light, each carrying the memory of today into the infinite weave of existence.
