If you’ve never watched any of Louis’s docs, you should. This particular one talks about the medication of children in today’s society for mental illnessess, something I am vehemently opposed to. Any parent who allows their child to be heavily medicated for any number of illnessess especially bi-polar because it ‘calms’ their child down and makes the parent’s life easier should be thrown in jail for child abuse. I’ve read a lot on this and it chills me.
It chills me particularly that parents get sucked in. I could easily have been stashed with drugs when I was a suicidal and bulimic teen, but “fortunately” my dad completely disregarded me, neglected me.
I could easily have suicided in those years – I contemplated it endlessly, crouched between parked cars readying myself to jump out and be killed, but not doing it… for fear of being a paraplegic (all gutlessness). But my mum had suicided and it seemed a fair enough move to make.
Yet, no drugs, just pain and ache and endurance and moving onward and onward in deep deep depressions… and alcoholism… and finally here now, writing.
I think ABSOLUTELY it is horrific how they are drugging our young.
I think many of the bahavioral symptoms for bi-polar in particular are simply not observable in children that young. Financial risk-taking, sexual promiscuity, other symptoms that I feel really only stantiate after a kindling-effect outside of childhood. I’m not saying there aren’t children that suffer from mental illness but drugging your kids to make them more controllable makes me question why in the hell did they have kids in the first place.
